Giving Season 2023
As the holidays approach, SWR Memorial is filled with gratitude and inspiration from our community's incredible generosity. This year, we've shifted our focus to a broader mission of giving back, while still keeping Stevan's memory alive. Our giving season has been a testament to the power of compassion and the impact of small acts of kindness.
In 2023, we conducted 22 spotlights, each highlighting a unique act of giving that reflects Stevan’s legacy. Here are a few heartwarming examples:
Supporting Foster Together
Juniper's donation of much-needed sheets for the pack-n-plays at Foster Together has brought immense joy to children and families impacted by foster care. This act of kindness aligns with our mission to equip and support those in need, embodying the spirit of giving that Stevan cherished.
Bringing Comfort to Cedar Hurst Residents
Juna's delivery of fuzzy socks and favorite snacks to residents at Cedar Hurst Senior Living in Farmington, MO, added warmth and cheer to their lives. The interactive storytelling session was a delightful experience for everyone involved, showcasing the joy that simple gestures can bring.
Helping Devland and Dolan
The story of Devland and Dolan, two boys who lost both of their parents, touched our hearts deeply. Through sponsorship for their tuition and donations for Christmas gifts, our community rallied to provide support during their time of need, demonstrating the profound impact of collective generosity.
Clothing Donations to Southeast Missouri Family Violence Center
On the third anniversary of Eric Lin Marler's passing, we honored his memory by donating clothing to the Southeast Missouri Family Violence Center. This act of giving not only supported survivors of domestic violence but also kept Eric’s and Stevan’s names alive in a positive and meaningful way.
A Season of Reflection and Generosity
This year, we've taken a step back to remember what our giving season is truly about: honoring Stevan by caring for those around us. We encourage everyone to give food to homeless shelters, buy groceries for someone in need, volunteer at food pantries, or simply reach out to offer a listening ear. These acts of kindness embody Stevan’s spirit and create a ripple effect of positivity in our community.
As we share our own acts of giving in the coming weeks, we invite you to join us in this journey. Let us know how you plan to honor Stevan this holiday season and share pictures if you’d like. Together, we can make a difference and keep Stevan’s legacy of kindness alive.
Thank you for your continued support and generosity. We look forward to bringing back the beloved rock hunt next year, but for now, let’s focus on what truly matters: giving back and spreading joy.
Happy holidays from the Stevan Rodgers Memorial.
